The Blue Tourism Initiative (BTI) partners (IDDRI, eco-union, and the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation), organises the online event ” Blue Tourism Initiative Closing Webinar: Achievements, Lessons Learned and the Way Forward” on 16 July, from 3 to 4:30 CEST online on Zoom.
The side event will present the main results and lessons learned from the Blue Tourism Initiative’s pilot sites located in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Western Indian Ocean.
The session will showcase how the initiative has supported improved visitor management in sensitive coastal areas, the creation of local ecotourism governance structures, capacity building for tourism operators, and the integration of biodiversity considerations into hospitality practices. Building on these results, the event will explore the transition from project implementation to long-term impact through the Mediterranean Blue Tourism Flagship Initiative, under the Barcelona Convention, and the Blue Tourism Innovation Cluster in the Western Indian Ocean, within the Our Blue Future initiative.
